  • For Salesforce, provided developmental and copy editing services in support of their cloud computing product line, including wiki pages, end-user, administrator and programming products.

Job Aids


  • For Covad Communications, created job aids and process sheets documenting Network Operations Center procedures. Procedures included provisioning, troubleshooting circuit failures and other major network outages, including DSLAMS and switches.

Installation and Maintenance Guides


  • For Alloptic, created hardware installation guides for PON(Passive Optical Network) products.
  • For ClarusIPC, created an installation guide for a VOIP implementation and test system for Cisco's CallManager product.
  • For SkyPilot, created installation guides for wireless units for corporate (Gateway, Seed) and end-users.
  • For AFC, created an installation and maintenance guide for a DSLAM switch/router device.
  • For Winnet, created installation and operations manuals for Ethernet- and SONET-based wireless broadband products using radio frequency instead of cables to connect corporate intranets, NSPs, and ISPs across large metropolitan areas.
  • For Resilience, created an installation guide and a troubleshooting guide for a customized version of a Sun Ultra Sparc workstation.
  • For Digital Link, created an Installation/User’s Guide for a multilink access device for a Network Administrator audience. The product performed both switching and routing functions.
  • For Brocade, created two installation/configuration manuals for two ANSI Fibre Channel 8- and 16-port switches.
  • For Sony, wrote installation and maintenance manuals for digital video news editing systems.

Network/System Management Manuals


  • For Alloptic, updated system administration and maintenance manuals for an element management system.
  • For ClarusIPC, created configuration and operations guides for a VOIP implementation and test system for Cisco's CallManager product.
  • For SkyPilot, created a network management guide for provisioning and managing wireless networks, including CLI commands.
  • For AFC, created a network management system user guide that included video over IP (Multicast).
  • For Brocade, created a software manual for the ANSI Fibre Channel switches’ firmware operating system.
  • For Borland, designed and produced on-line documentation for the Paradox database package. Edited the Paradox User's Guide.

Chip-Level Data Sheets


  • For NeoParadigm Labs, created datasheets and application notes for 3- and 5-port Fast Ethernet switches, and flat-panel displays.
  • For MMC Networks, edited and produced ATM and Fast Ethernet network processor chip set data sheets and user guides involving Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking technologies.
  • For Provigent, created datasheets for "system-on-chip" (SoC) chipsets for modems designed for use in Point to Point and Point to Multipoint, microwave fixed wireless communication systems.

Internal Documentation


  • For Equinex, created a Site Operations Procedures manual that dealt with all manner of procedures for running an IBX site. Procedures included those for Site Operations Manager, Chief Engineer, security and site Technicians. Procedures included daily operations including safety and maintenance.
  • For LSI Logic, wrote, edited, and formatted training documentation for a scheduling software product.

Product Descriptions


  • For AFC, created product description documentation for a DSLAM switch/router device.
  • For Brocade, created the external OEM specification for ANSI Fibre Channel switches.


Project Management

  • Improved the productivity of an existing department by adding working structure to the existing group of writers in the form of documentation plans and schedules, increasing the department’s ability to meet deadlines.
  • Created and staffed a Publications Department, including training and mentoring writers, plus implementing an effective structure to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • As a Technical Publications manager, partnered with IBM's project management group and Publications Department to create an effective project documentation plan for a six-manual set.
  • Developed and taught “Managing People In Publications,” a course in UC Santa Cruz Extension's Publications Management Certificate program.
